It's that time again, ladies and gentlemen!

Tuesday, November 5th, persons across the Commonwealth of Virginia will be filling out ballots to choose our next President of the United States, as well as U.S. House and Senate seats (select areas) and local positions.

The Town of Jarratt, Virginia, is having a local election: the positions that need to be filled are:

  • One (1) candidate for the position of Mayor;
  • Six (6) candidates for the six positions for Town Council.

While a lot of people have already made the decision to not vote this year due to their distaste in the candidates for both Federal and State elections, we must all remember that LOCAL elections are just as important.  Democracy starts in LOCAL elections, and if we as a people cannot keep honesty and transparency in our local governments ...our country will always be doomed for failure.

Jarratt, Virginia, is a duel-county municipality, so please remember that you vote for Jarratt's Mayor and six (6) members of Council at your usual voting areas.  If, FOR ANY REASONyou are denied such at your designated polling area and you have the right to vote in the Jarratt, Virginia, election, DO NOT fill out a ballot until you speak with your respective county registrar's office:

  • Greensville County: (434) 348 - 4228
    Susan D. Conwell (General Registrar) -

    Chestney B. Simmons (Chief Deputy Registrar) -

Most people do not realize how important it is to double-check with their registrar's office as far as their voting rights are concerned.  Quite a few people were denied the right to vote in the Jarratt, Virginia, election in 2022 due to the mishandling of paperwork -- 2022 was the very first year that towns were forced to have elections in November instead of May, and being a duel-county municipality made things twice as difficult.

You can thank your state representatives for that: 2021 Changes to Virginia's Election Laws.

Early voting begins this Friday, September 20th, and runs until Saturday, November 2nd - again, please double-check with your registrar's office as far as your election rights are concerned if you believe you have the right to vote in the Town of Jarratt, Virginia, election and you are not given permission to do so!
