Town of Jarratt, Virginia - Write-In Candidates

There have been a lot of questions lately as to who is on the 2024 Town of Jarratt election ballot, as well as a lot of confusion as to who people should vote for if six (6) seats need to be filled and there aren't enough people they're willing to vote for to fill those seats.

(A reminder: If you haven't already, please read Election Ballot How-To's!)

There's a quick solution to that:

Write-ins.

I said quick, not smart.  If you want to place a write-in candidate on your ballot, you need to be very strategic with who you choose, why you decided to choose them, and then have enough people on your side to agree with you - who will also place said write-in on their ballot.

You need enough people behind you and your write-in candidate(s) to make it work.

Everyone needs to be able to write the name of said write-in candidate(s) clearly so that they can be read without issue after the polls close and the ballots are being tallied.

The names of said write-in candidate(s) MUST be spelled correctly if at all possible so that there are no mistakes, and so that under no circumstances can someone who may lose to said write-in can counter if a certain number of votes shouldn't count because of one or two mistakes in spelling.

Most of the time, if there are write-in candidates in the race, you will find someone speaking for them at your polling place with sample ballots that you can take inside with you.  Make sure your spelling matches what is on the sample ballot, and everything will be just fine.

Regardless of your choices, just make your choices count this election day - don't forget to vote!
