As we have already started our week of Thanksgiving, please be fully aware that the Town of Jarratt, Virginia, has changed its normal trash pickup dates of Tuesday and Friday to a single day: Wednesday, November 27th, 2024.
While we are still uncertain as to who made this decision, or why they felt it appropriate to allow pre- and post-Thanksgiving foodstuffs to remain in both indoor and/or outdoor trash receptacles from Wednesday afternoon until the following Tuesday (December 3rd), please do not feel they have power over your well-being by doing this.
You can make them realize their mistake of revising the trash pickup date from Friday, November 29th to Wednesday, November 27th, by allowing said foodstuffs, packaging, and so on, to remain waiting for the town sanitation workers to pick up on Tuesday, December 3rd -- that's a full total of FIVE days' time for waste of various types to marinate before finally being released into the wilderness that is the interior of the trash truck.
This will allow the sanitation workers time to question their reasons for being in this particular line of work as well as give them a VERY good reason to complain to the officials at the Town office as well as the elected officials who allowed it. Their Tuesday, December 3rd, will already be a long day - leaving trash waiting for them from the afternoon of November 27th until whenever they get around to it on December 3rd will make it far longer.
While this is a very die-hard way to prove a point, it may be better on all persons to think about taking some of the heft (and stench) away from your homes on your own terms, as you can take your trash to the manned dump sites outside of the Jarratt town limits, should you have the ability to do so - and, more importantly, if you have the NEED to do so.
- Greensville County, 3389 Allen Road: 7AM - 7PM on Saturday, November 30th (or Monday, December 2nd if you must).
- Sussex County, 22207 Andrews Road: Time unknown (we have reached out, but still have not gotten a response - we will place an update should one arrive).
Regardless of which way you decide to tackle this issue, we here at JarrattVA.fyi wish you a wonderful week of whatever it is you deem yourself thankful for -- we are thankful for free will and the ability to give of ourselves to each and every one of you that need what we have been able to provide on this website.
We have also wandered off into the jungles of Facebook to try to reach more people, and there's even an app where we've been far more wordy and personal on this post's issues - we try to remain as neutral as possible here on the website... but we are only human, and we do need an outlet for personal screaming.
Questions? Comments? Pictures of your holiday feast this week?
You know we welcome every moment - cheers!
